Second Brain — Privacy Policy

                Our commitment: Second Brain is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data on our servers. Your memories are yours alone.
            

Data Collection

What we collect

Nothing. The App does not collect, transmit, or store any user data on our servers. We have no analytics, no tracking, and no user accounts on our side.

What stays on your device

All memories, people, groups, and reflections are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
Voice recordings are processed on-device using Apple's Speech framework and stored locally.
If you enable iCloud sync, data is stored in your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit. We have no access to your iCloud data.

AI Processing

On-device AI

Memory classification (type detection, tag extraction, summarization) uses on-device natural language processing. No data is sent to any server for classification.

Cloud AI

Chat and reflection features use the Anthropic Claude API. When you use these features, your memory text is sent to Anthropic's servers for processing. Anthropic does not use your data for training. Their privacy policy applies to this data and can be reviewed at anthropic.com/privacy.

API Key

If you provide your own Claude API key, it is stored locally on your device in encrypted storage. We never see or collect your API key.

Data Storage

All data is stored on-device in an encrypted SQLite database managed by Apple's SwiftData framework.
iCloud sync (optional, Pro feature) uses Apple's CloudKit private database. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple.
We do not have access to any data stored on your device or in your iCloud account.

Data Sharing

                We do not share your data with any third parties. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data. Period.
            

Third-Party Services

Anthropic Claude API — Used for AI chat and reflections. Data sent to Anthropic is subject to their privacy policy.
Apple CloudKit — Used for optional iCloud sync. Subject to Apple's privacy policy.
Apple StoreKit — Used for subscription management. Subject to Apple's privacy policy.

Data Export & Deletion

You can export all your data at any time via Settings → Data Export in JSON or Markdown format.
You can delete all your data by deleting the App from your device.
If you use iCloud sync, you can manage or delete iCloud data in your device Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage.

Children's Privacy

Second Brain is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 years of age.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
